Chanson Triste Baseline

Here it is, the movie you've all been waiting for.

Forgive me for not writing more. This is the first time I've done a video recording (a Digital Elph is a dangerous thing), and I'm feeling overwhelmed at the number of things I had no idea I do when I play. Plus, I'm really tired from my recent travels, and I need to exercise and prepare for my cello lesson this afternoon.

So, feel free to offer constructive criticism now, or to wait until after I post my own critique.

Wow, video! Only praise from me. Your vibrato is nice, your bowing arm looks confident. And the varnish on your cello is really pretty.

It's always a treat for me to watch someone else play the cello. Thanks for posting.

Wooohoo! Terrific. No criticisms from me. I think you're interpretation is pretty close to how it is on the Suzuki CD. As a "by-the-way", my teacher disagrees with that interpretation. She says Triste means sad, so Chanson Triste would be a Song of Sadness. She wanted it slow and emoted to the max. With those last Ds and Gs slow and slower, getting very very soft.

Thanks to all for the encouragement. And thanks, Terry, for the info. A quick search had not uncovered the translation of Chanson Triste, so you have save me some research time.

Check back next week to see the progress!(Is that over-confident?)
